Virtual Slumber Party: Caitlin Wilson Design x KIP.

One of the most exciting parts of launching a collaboration is the corresponding celebratory launch event that usually takes place. This year, as almost all events have moved online, we were tasked with coming up with an event idea that would serve as a celebration for the launch of our Caitlin Wilson Design x KIP. capsule collection as well as an engaging way to entertain our friends and followers. We came up with the idea for the Caitlin Wilson x KIP. Virtual Slumber Party as a way to showcase the collection in a fun and safe way that all of our followers could be a part of.

On the eve of our launch day, Friday October 9th, Caitlin and her daughters were joined by three of her friends and their children on an Instagram Live session, all donning pajama sets from the CWD x KIP. capsule collection. The groups discussed topics like finding happiness at home, their favourite family activities, and the things they love most about the collection. We recapped some of the Q&A highlights and sweetest moments of the event to give our readers some insight for those who missed it. You can also watch the full live video here:

Jamie O'Banion @jamieobanion and Daughter, Gracie

Caitlin: Tell us some of your favourite things to do with Mommy on the weekends or at night.

Gracie: I like to do activities like go on bike rides or do crafts. One of my favourite things to do with my mom is bake.

Catherine Giudici Lowe @catherinegiudici

Caitlin: I just love watching you and your kiddos and all the fun things that you do. Can you to give us a little insight as to how you stay so happy and fun?

Catherine: I think some perspective is definitely part of it -- I have days that are really really challenging but for the most part I feel so blessed to have children who are sweet and are willing to learn. I think every chapter of childhood and parenthood is really special in its own way and its challenging of course, but I think you learn a lot from that. Even if you are changing a diaper and you’re over changing diapers, just be grateful that you get to change diapers -- one day you wont be changing diapers or some people don't get to do that. So I think a lot of it is perspective and understanding that the hardships are also something you should be grateful for. We just have fun together! We’re always laughing and always trying to have teachable moments, but it’s just a blast over here, we're just best friends, always always together--we’re just inseparable!

Caitlin: What is a good frustration-free way to bake with your kids?

Courtney: As soon as they learn to read and can handle measuring cups, I actually take a step back and I let them do more on their own rather than helicopter over them. They enjoy it more and I think it gives the kids confidence in the kitchen if we just let them try it. I would pick a recipe that’s kind of easy like just two elements, like a yellow cake with chocolate buttercream.
