The KIP. Noël Nightcap

INGREDIENTS/

-1 cup dairy free milk (we like almond milk as it's mineral and vitamin content possess potentially sleep-boosting properties

-2 tablespoons non-dairy creamer (such as coconut or oat) or 1-½ tablespoons coconut oil

-2 tablespoons raw cacao powder (hello magnesium boost)

-1 teaspoon sweetener of choice (we love raw wildflower or manuka honey for its antimicrobial properties)

-½ teaspoon peppermint extract 

-optional: sea salt to taste

-not optional: coconut whipped cream + seasonal sprinkles

While we're constantly told what not to do before bed for a better sleep, we're not always educated on the healthy habits that can replace those which inhibit sleep. Part of our mandate of helping women find rest includes starting the conversation around the habits and routines we find to be helpful for promoting relaxation in ourselves. With so much conflicting information about what is and isn't good for sleep, we choose to stick to what we know to be true based on our own experience, the testimonials of others, and, of course, the support of up-to-date research and science.

As we approach the holidays, our team is giddy to start the process of holiday-ifying everything, including our food and beverages. On that note, we present to you, the KIP. Noël Nightcap, a sweet recipe for a peppermint hot chocolate that induces even sweeter dreams.

TRY THIS RECIPE OUT AS PART OF YOUR SEASONAL WIND-DOWN ROUTINE:

Directions

  • 1/ Heat up your milk in a small saucepan, be careful not to let it boil over
  • 2/ Add to a powerful blender along with the creamer or oil, cacao powder, sweetener, and peppermint extract
  • 3/ Blend on high for approximately 1 minute. sprinkle in your optional sea salt
  • 4/ Pour into your mug and top with coconut whipped cream and sprinkles
